About Inkhorn

Inkhorn Review is a literary journal of poetry and short prose. We publish an online issue every quarter, and once a year we gather a selection of that work into a printed annual.

The journal was founded in 2026 by Terry Heath, who edits it.

Free to read

Every issue is free, and it stays free. There's no paywall and no members-only archive — if it's published here, you can read it.

Subscribing is also free. It means each new issue arrives in your inbox when it comes out, along with the occasional note about what's happening at the journal. That's the whole offer. Nothing is held back from people who don't sign up.

The printed annual

Once a year we choose from the four online issues and make a book of it. The selection is editorial, not a reprint of everything, and it's printed on demand so it stays in print. It's the only thing here that costs money, and buying one is the most direct way to keep the journal going.

The editor

Terry Heath is a writer and teacher. He is founding editor of Inkhorn Review and host of the podcast Life on Words. He teaches at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington, and founded the BookFolk and ArtsFolk festivals.
